Furbellow’s is hidden away down one of Sandgate’s many alleys, in the heart of the historic cobbled streets of Whitby. It is a stylishly decorated two bedroomed cottage which will easily accommodate 4 people over 2 floors. The building is over 400 years old and is now grade 2 listed.
Our sister company Furbellow & Co. is our shop below. It has a rich history with the shop having been a haberdashery store, a record shop and a Victorian Image photography studio. The shop below opened in March 2018 and following that we began the loving renovation of our first holiday cottage; "Furbellow’s" is a place where we expect you to switch off and enjoy all that we have envisioned our guests to experience.
We have taken our time to carefully renovate the building, being
sensitive to its needs whilst combining our ideas gathered from thoughts
of Captain Cook’s travels and discoveries of new ideas and a love for
the sea; perfect for the old town location. Its wonkiness is part of the
Where possible we have kept it as it was; reused what we found along the way or selected materials and new items that would enhance its character and mirror the style of the shop below, without compromising on the need for comfort.
During your stay you will be able to admire the personal detail in this cottage that adds to that extra charm and richness that Furbellow's wants you to experience. It is quite extraordinary how the cottage makes you feel instantly relaxed as you step inside to begin your holiday. If you are looking for that extra special cottage to escape to, then "Furbellow's" is the place to stay.
